City Trustees to host free pension seminar for IFAs in Manchester on 5 December

To keep IFA and wealth managers updated on the changes in pension legislation as well as the challenges and opportunities that arise from them, City Trustees will be running an afternoon seminar at the Crowne Plaza in Manchester. This seminar will deliver key information regarding self-invested pensions and address issues which could affect your clients' future savings. The key speakers Iain Herbertson and John Glover will provide practical advice on how to avoid unnecessary tax charges and explore how a business can interact with a pension scheme.  Richard Shepherd-Cross from sister company Custodian Capital will also present and will highlight an affordable route to investing in commercial property and an interesting alternative to institutional property funds.

Workshop summary

  1. Pension update - pensions potential - protected rights changes, flexible drawdown and international pensions.
  2. Self-investment - helping clients/businesses - exploring connected transactions including unquoted shares, loans, and goodwill.
  3. Property - Purchase and lease back of a business premises, commercial property within a SIPP, syndicated property purchases.
